Yellow: Singapore

I was thinking ideas of my next post and that's when it hit me; I haven't shown you guys pictures of my trip to Singapore. The reason is also very clear- that was the time when I became an instagrammer. The only reason why I had an account and didn't post pictures regularly was because I didn't have any! Come Singapore and I had hundreds. So here you go: part 1 of the many posts that you will see on my blog every now and then.

On our way to Gardens by the Bay
Singapore is such an incredible place to have a vacation in; I know now. One day we were sitting at home and I came across this post about cheap destinations (flight) from India. While Singapore isn't really that cheap but it came last in the list. I happened to just check the prices of flight and made a list of places we can go to, in descending order. I pitched (yes pitched) the idea to my dad and he asked me to check hotel prices of Singapore. By evening, I was checking what one can do in Singapore and the price attached to it. Within a week of it, I was planning itinerary! The thing about planning and akanksha is that, we can never go wrong. I love planning so this was like my very own baby. I planned each and every hour with back-up places to visit so that we can utilize maximum from the 4-day trip. We had so much fun you guys so if anyone needs an itinerary/tips for Singapore then let me know. I promise I won't charge a penny ;)

Years to LookBack

It's been 5 years since I've started blogging and the journey has been quite amazing. This isn't a 'blogging-has-taught-me-so-much' moment, although it did! But, I just wanted to look back at all the fabulous pictures and tried to recall the fun I had during the photoshoot. So in this post I'll be sharing the amazing moments and what I love about that outfit :)

Sit back and relax!

The first time I wore a lipstick. Gosh! I was so nervous as I know nothing about makeup, the right shade or even to wear one but, I did it anyway. It's about feeling good right? So I felt.

I did the basic white and black look here and completed it with two different accessories- a hat and a floral headband.

This was a very sunny day and I sort of regretted wearing those pants (not mine!) so I said to myself, 'Hey! Why not try something new' and so I tied my favorite scarf and voila!

You'd see this sling bag in so many posts. This is undoubtedly one of my favorite bags. It is stylish, light and so useful to carry on a day-out, date or a party.

I asked my friend who is a photographer, to click some nice pictures for my shopping haul. We went out to Carter road, Bandra and had a blast while shooting it; never-mind the sun!

My favorite thing about this outfit was the blue canvas shoes. They are my brother's but I gave a twist to it by going lace-less ;)

Goa is so much fun with friends! We danced to Lean On, partied under the stars, sun-bathed at Candolim beach and kept ourselves hydrated with watermelon & kiwi juices!

I finally found a reason to wear crop tops and my leather shorts (in India). I had worked so hard to prepare a toned body for Goa and the results were truly fruitful.

This outfit is again from Goa Diaries. The sun was upon us but hey, it's always great for photoshoots!

I hadn't wore this magnificent dress for like-ever. With my body in shape and at the right place, I took out my floral headband and let my hair down. It felt so airy and light in this piece of maxi-dress.

My last academic farewell was so emotional and fun-filled. Click on the picture above to read more :)

I'd have to say, I had not gained as much as eye-balls 'in college' as I did that day when I wore this nude-colored elegant piece of jumpsuit. My first, yes!

At last, the bidding goodbye to Mumbai pose. This picture was taken at Worli Sea Face. I loved everything about that day, the weather, fresh air and my natural waves.

I have to admit, I have so many blues but this kind of blue sets my mood high: such a paradox! This romper glides over my skin so well and the lacework is just so splendid.

I love to organize my photo albums with nice and customized designs. Look how I created my own lookbook for Social Print Studio's custom photo books.

Waiting for your views.

Blue Drive

When all you want is independence and good vibes: visit Mumbai! I can't believe I'm missing Mumbai already. It has given me so much that I can't even imagine receiving the same from one place. Confidence, personality, freedom, safety and more importantly, an amazing end to the last academic life. I have lived the two years in solemn peace :)

I got to do the things I never knew I wanted so badly. Got a tattoo done, represented college in front of international dignitaries, won at IIM Ahmedabad, trip to Goa and visited my dream city- NYC!
I want to Thank Mumbai for all that it has given me. It has truly changed my perspective about the city.

Wore this to my last sea visit. Location- Worli Sea Face, Mumbai

Fare-the-Well

So, the most amazing two years of my academic life finally came to an end!

I have had the opportunity to learn great things from my life here at Mumbai: having faith in friendships, believing in yourself, self worth to self realization has all happened here! I honestly feel so matured and wise that I could smile even at emptiness. I'm having mixed feelings right now. Sorrow, lost, dilemma and heavy-hearted while at the same time; glad, found, thoughtful and hopeful of a bright future ahead. I wonder how many of you have felt what I'm feeling right now. It's not entirely leaving college but leaving some people in life whom I might never interact with. Here's to those people- I will Miss You. You will stay in my heart forever :)

Thanks for being there in difficult times and kudos to the happier times.

This Time Home

Hi Friends

How is everyone doing?

I am so excited to be back. Someone rightly said, there is no place like home, no greater love than family's and no comfort than in your jammies :P I know I mixed a lot of sayings and put my words into it, but hey: you get the feeling, right?

I have so many thoughts running back n' forth my head. One time I feel overjoyed then at once grinding my teeth.. All because I'm at home and the time is running so quickly. Not long before I was here this time last year: when I was excited just to be back. It was more of a 'welcome home let's celebrate Diwali' than 'You're busy these days, come home to celebrate Diwali'. Everything but the feeling is in place. Who likes change anyway. But as I wrote in my earlier post Change is Inevitable
we got to move on and accept what life is offering to us. Then again, don't we make our own lives?

These snaps were taken in Palladium Mall, Mumbai. Loved the swarovski artwork in the center of the mall. You cannot miss the embellishment on my collar here. This was the only attraction I paid INR 350 for! Yes! I can also bargain upto 50% :D (maybe first and the last time as I don't enjoy shopping at flea markets and yelling at the top of my voice just to be heard)

But for now, enjoy the pictures :)

Being Americano: Denim shirt & Bandana

Hey all

Fancy this. I finally got something of America and I'd like to think of it as a gift from New York ;)

I've been in an experiment-mode as you might have seen with my color choices here and palazoo pants with layering here. This time I tried mixing two big trends that are coming back- Denim shirt and Bandana.

The lazy denim shirt look- wow! I've to admit. Fashion bloggers and divas who were loving this trend (when I was living under a rock) are very much right about it- the most comfortable and chicest trend so far. There are more than billion ways to wear a denim shirt and this is how I wore since it's a tad too big for me.

The Bandana love- There are many ways to tie a bandana and the most easiest is a knot and drop. I tied it from behind in the form of a bow so it's tail is doing a peek-a-bo(w) from behind.

Here's how to wear a  bandana on head.

Enjoy more pictures of this look
